The Economy
For those of us who enjoyed the wonderful inauguration of our nations 1st African American President, how did it make you feel. I know it made me feel proud to be living during a time when something like this possible. It has never felt so good to know that we too, can run thiscountry. Barack is the change that American needed. He represents all people, everyone, all nationalities. My family participated in this great historical event by attending the Inauguration in Washington, DC on January 20, 2009. My children were so excited although it was so cold out, that didn't even matter at the time. The looks on the faces in the crowd was enough to make you shout for joy. It was a mixture of all people, young and old. It was an event to attend. Everyone came together as one, race and color didnt' matter.
We have a lot of things to work on this year. As you all know, there has been a major change in our economy these past few years. People who once had it together are finding themselves in a horrible downturn. Families are losing their homes and jobs at alarming rates, small and large businesses are closing their doors. Families are loosing their life savings, and pensions. Its a very hard time in America right now, but we have faith that all is well.
My duty as a small minority business owner is to empower other business owners like me. I make it my business to refer others to businesses that I may or may not be associated with. I enjoy helping others find the products and services they needs, especially within our own community. I would like to see more support from our communities to help keep our businesses open. We as a people are so quick to judge our own instead of trying to work with one another to make things better for everyone. We as a people have to get better with this and regardless if you are a business owner or not, that we make it our business to reinvest in someone who looks like you. All other cultures and races have this down to a science. Its just something we need to work on and master. If we support one another there is nothing we can't do. No need for jealously or hatred towards one another, lets help each other grow. When you plant seeds, you will be rewarded. Its proven, and its being done. Because I am a Business owner and I know the importance of supporting other businesses like mine, I feel very strongly about this. We need to learn that if we see room for improvement within a business, make a suggestion, instead of just speaking negatively about one of your own. You will not see any other race talk about their own kind, even if its something they are not happy with. They just won't do it. They have respect for one another. Until we gain that kind of respect for one another, its always going to be a struggle. I can go on and on, but until next time, make it your business to support another business in your community. Support someone who look just like YOU!!

It's a New Year! Get FINE in 2009!
How was your holiday? Did you get everything you wanted? Did you get that POLE?
I must say, my holidays were great, I spent time with close friends and family.
My kids got the WII and they play it all the time. I think its one of the best gaming systems around.
Let's talk about YOU. Are you meeting your fitness goals? Are you taking time for yourself? Are you giving back to your community? Have you vowed to BE FINE in '09?
This will be a historical year with the inauguration of our nations 1st African American President, many homeowners losing their homes and jobs, many Big Name Companies shutting their doors, the condition of the stock market, and everything else in between. Us, women must remain focused on what it is we want out of life. Although we may be going through this tough time, it won't last always. Let us be proactive, and set ourselves us to succeed. Here's a couple of things I always remember in a time like this:
- Stay clear of negativity! Always remain positive in any situation
- Never let anyone tell you what you can't do, JUST DO IT!
- Write down your goals for 2009 and scratch off the ones you have met (short or long term)
- Take time for yourself by getting massage, mani-pedi, work out at Body Talk of course, eat healthier
Give us some tips that you may have that can help all of us stay on top...

Ok. Now that I got out some information about our Atlanta location. What's up, my ladies of the MD/DC/VA and Atlanta area? What have you been doing this summer? Kudos to all the ladies who hosted parties during the month of July. I am sure you all had lots of fun. Please share your stories. I know what I have been doing, Working, Working, Working. Barely taking time for myself, but with the opening of Atlanta, I now have my outlet. I take class as often as possible. At least 3 times a week. Here is something funny. On last night, I had to teach our Polerize class. I have never taught a class, but last night I did. I did a great job, I think. LOL. I taught the ladies about six tricks and they seem to enjoy it. I knew I could teach if I was ever put in this situation, but I didn't expect to do it last night. Anyway it was fun, I enjoyed it.
Kids went back to school on yesterday. Yeeeeeaaaaah! My baby boy went to Kindergarten, my middle girl went to 3rd grade, and my oldest girl went to 7th grade. Wow, how fast time flies.
Now that the kids are getting back to school, its time to care for ourselves. Lets eat right, exercise at Body Talk, and love one another. During this time, its very important for us to support each other and push to your fullest potential. With everything thats going on in the economy, we must remain strong and Press On. In the midst, lets make sure we take care of self first. Don't stress, just make it happen!!
Check out my silhouette photo!! See sure is SEXY!!! We will be offering some Sexy Silhouette Photography at both locations soon!!! Stay tuned...........

Happy Mother's Day!!!!!
It's Mother's Day. A day to celebrate being a mother to your own or someone else's child. It's a day for us to be uplifted. It's a day for us to remember the mothers before us. It's a day for us to feel good about everything we have accomplished in life all while being a great mother. You know, I am the mother of three and if it had not been for the Lord on their side, I would have lost it by now. However, I wouldn't trade them for anything. I really love my kids and want to raise the most respectful, enthusiastic, intelligent, unique, beautiful, entreprenial go-getters in the world. They mean so much to me, that words can not even explain. I live for them, and will do whatever I can to raise them right. Me, myself was raised by my grandmother since the age of 12. My mom was not around, unfortunately she fell victim to drug abuse. My dad was there, but he worked all the time and did not have a clue of what to do with 3 girls. I have been blessed to have mother figures in my life, be it my friends moms, aunts, cousins, or neighbors. Some children are not that lucky. I was lucky enough to have some special women in my life that made me want more. It wasn't because they had more, but because I wanted to break the generational curse of poverty in my family. I would like for you ladies who have the time, invest it in another individual in need of emotional support. Push that individual to their fullest potential, even if you are not where you want to be. By helping someone else, you will soon see things in your life manifest. Moms are important, don't take them for granted. I wish I had my mom during my younger years to be there for me at my graduation for middle and high school, and college. I wish she was there to help with my wedding, I wish she was there for the birth of all of my children, oh so many things I wish she was there for. God held me and comforted me in my time of need, he was my mother and father, and for that I am truly grateful. I take my hat off to all of my friends who are holding things down as single parents. It's not easy. I take my hat off to all of the families who are working together to stay together not just for the kids, but for themselves as well.
If you have a special women in your life that you admire and appreciate let them know. I wish I could tell my grandmother how much she meant to me and how she played a huge positive role in my life. She has passed on, but I will never ever forget her. If your special woman is still here, call her and tell her you love her. It will mean the world to her just to hear your voice. With that being said, I have a few phone calls to make right now.
Share some memories about your Mom, good or bad............. Until next time, Sexy Mama!!!!!!

Manage Your Time, Don't Let it Manage You!
I haven't talked to you guys in a while and I am sorry. I have been extremely busy. Today, I pledge that you will hear from me at least twice a week. Where does all the time go? Do you have the same problem? Trying to juggle the kids, career, and still have time for your health and fitness. I know its hard, but you must take time out for YOU. I am learning to do just that. Sometimes we need to slow down a little and enjoy the moment. You will feel much better. I manage to work out on my POLE at least 30 minutes each day. You can find that time also. Just think about your health, whether you walk, run, jump rope, stretch: do something for your physical self. If you get a minute, no, not if you get a minute, take a minute to pamper yourself. Go and get your hair and nails done, get a massage and/or a facial, read a good book (I am almost done Fabulosity by Kimore Lee Simmons), have lunch at a new restaurant, and have some ME time.
What's up with you ladies? What's going on in your life? Are you working towards your goals? How are the kids? Talk to me.
A little about my kids: My daughter Gem has started her very own Online Cooking Show 4 Kids. Check her out at www.gemskitchen.com She aspires to become a chef: a celebrity chef with her own Food Network Show. My daughter Gewel, is competing in two huge Bowling Tournaments in Georgia during the next few weeks. She had to qualify to be able to compete. She is the BOMB on the lanes. My son Gary is just as wild as he want to be. He is growing up so fast, but he's still my baby. He always tells me he love me everyday. He is so sweet when he wants to be. He aggrevates his sisters but I think thats what he is supposed to do.
A little about business: We have our 3rd Annual Amateur Night coming up at our Body Talk Baltimore location. This is one of the most anticipated events of the year for our ladies. Our ladies will show off their talent amongst their peers. Make sure you get your ticket, they are ON SALE NOW!!!!!
I pray that everyone has a prosperous holiday. Don't forget to THANK HIM for all your BLESSINGS.
Talk to you soon!
Love ya
